a.k.a. Under suspicion!

This episode began with a picture of the white board on the fence announcing the young men's military history club. Inside the house, Fumie was making newsletters. The voiceover explained that the fan club had started, and this was their second newsletter. Then Shigeru came out of his room and laughed at Fumie's mustache -- ink under her nose. He took her hand and commented, "Such nice skin." As she looked stunned, he suddenly got up and walked out, saying, "I'm going out for a walk."

They ran the theme here...

Next, as Fumie was hanging out the wash, someone went past. But when she called out, there was no response.

Later, inside, Fumie was putting newsletters in envelopes when Shigeru returned. She mentioned seeing someone, and he said, "That's funny, I thought I saw someone too." Fumie wondered if it could be robbers. Shigeru laughed, "No, why would they bother? There's nothing here to steal."

The voiceover told us that every day the fan club got lots of letters. The clock chimed, and Fumie went outside to see what letters came today. There was a face peering through the fence. Fumie said, "I see you. I'm going to call the police!" The man stood in the road, and another man in a suit joined him. The first man looked at the second man, who reached into his pocket and got out... a badge. "We are the police, and we're investigating you."

Shigeru joined Fumie, and they talked with the two men in the entryway. The police asked, "What is this war club? Are you trying to build a military organization?" Shigeru said, "It's a manga fan club. That's all." The policeman said, "Where do you get your money? What's your real reason?" Shigeru and the policemen argued, until Fumie ducked into the other room and returned, carrying his books. She said, "Look, here's his books. Read them."

The policemen sat in the entryway and read the books. Shigeru brought a newsletter and said, "Here's our newsletter if you want to read it." The senior policeman, still reading, said, "Where were you in the war?" Shigeru told him, and the policeman said, "You lost your arm in the war, didn't you? I was in Saipan..." He closed the book and said, "This is real war." Then he told the other policeman, "Come on. A manga fan club isn't a problem." He looked at Fumie and Shigeru and said, "But, take down that sign, OK?"

As they walked away, the junior policeman said, "Should we investigate more?" The senior policeman said, "No. He's telling it the way it really was."

Shigeru and Fumie took down the sign.

Later, Fumie was working on more newsletters. Meanwhile, in the manga office, the secretary and the publisher were looking at complaints from customers about model kits. The publisher said, "How many did he make? They're not selling." The secretary handed him an invoice, and said, "He just ordered more." The publisher yelled, "Where is Uraki? Find him, I want to see him now!"

Shigeru was looking at the Kitaro books. Then he started drawing... more Kitaro. Fumie ran out of stamps, and stepped into the work room to tell him that she was going shopping. He didn't even look up from drawing. She peered at the sketches, and told herself, "He's working on Kitaro again." As she got ready to leave, she pondered, "Where do such scary stories come from? He's such a happy, cheerful person."

As Fumie stepped out of the door, the publisher's secretary ran up. "Where's is he? He can't escape."

Inside, Shigeru and Fumie listened to the secretary ask, "Where is Uraki? We haven't seen him in days." They looked at each other, and said, "We haven't seen him either. But what's wrong?" The secretary explained that the model kits weren't selling, and the publisher was upset. Shigeru said, "I'll bet he's run off again." The secretary showed them a kit -- it seemed to be a few pieces of printed cardboard.

The episode ended with Shigeru staring at the pieces from the model kit.
