Our New Vice!
Mar. 11th, 2006 04:27 pmWe indulged our new vice today. At least I think it is turning into a vice.
You see, at the new mall near us (no, the mall is not the vice), there is a First Kitchen. That's a Japanese fast food chain, like Macdonalds. They have french fries, in various flavors (buttered potato, etc. Today's new flavor was buttered corn). These are regular fries, put into a paper bag and shaken with flavors. Tasty, and of course french fries aren't terribly good for you on a regular basis. But these aren't really the vice.
The vice is the line of flavored mayonnaises that you are free to squeeze a dip into a little plastic bowl for your fries. They have about eight flavors. I'm particularly hooked on the garlic mayo flavor. We also usually have bit of shrimp shiso mint mayo. Today we also had a squirt of mustard mentaiko (spicy fish eggs) mayonnaise.
So we sat and dipped our fries into the mayonnaise and chomped away. Hot french fries, a splash of oil, and spices for the flavor. Great vice.
Hum. I'll bet I can't find those in America. But someone ought to import it! I'll bet it would be popular.
