I think there should be a term for the jetlag that follows a trip.

We flew to Dublin on Friday, June 29, and by Sunday we were pretty well back in sync. Still waking up a little bit early, and perhaps falling asleep a little bit earlier than usual, but functional -- awake most of the day.

Then we flew back Monday, July 9, arriving in Japan about midday July 10. And fell over that afternoon. Woke up a bit in the evening, fell asleep at one o'clock in the morning, and answered the alarm clock this morning with a groan.

I'm reasonably certain that I spent part of the afternoon staring at a computer screen probably in a total daze. I don't think I snored, and I believe my eyes were open, but I wasn't doing anything useful.

And now it is evening, and I feel as if the world was a top, slowing down, about to fall over. Which is probably what I shall do shortly.

That second round of jetlag in a reasonably short time is a knockout.

I suppose part of it might be that the conference -- the trip -- is exciting. New people, new experiences, having to figure out this and that, it's stimulating! So staying awake isn't quite as hard. But on the return, well, the office hasn't changed that much, and it isn't scheduled and constrained, so it's more relaxing, allowing the hammer of jetlag sleep to hit a bit harder.

How about "rewind jetlag?"

Or maybe I should just take a little nap.
G'night.
