is it raining frogs?
Jul. 16th, 2007 09:53 amLast week, there was a typhoon that ran across Okinawa and the southern island (Kyushu). For a while, they thought it would come this way, and indeed, Saturday we had very heavy rains. But Saturday night it turned and wandered off into the sea.
However, we did have one odd incident. Saturday night about midnight I saw something move on the kitchen floor. At first I thought it was a bug, but it hopped. When I caught it, it was a tiny frog. With his legs stretched out, he was about the size of my thumbnail. His body was about as big around as a toothpick, with tiny legs like whiskers. Little black eyes staring up at us. Cute!
Anyway, I went outside to our car to get an insect cage that we had bought for fireflies. And in the stairwell from our third-floor apartment, I found another tiny frog. He was at least two floors up!
I keep wondering if there was a rain of frogs in the middle of the night. At least that would explain how they got so high up.
