Friday, last day of the conference, the lunch included a very nice sherbet dessert. A little lemon, a little raspberry, and a little orange. Now since I am allergic to oranges, strawberries, and oats, I separated out the orange, then enjoyed the lemon and raspberry.

Big mistake.

Saturday my nose and throat were starting to tell me that I had not managed to avoid the allergens. We went ahead and took a trip to Toledo, which was fun, but I knew I was starting to slow down.

Sunday we wandered around Madrid. Me with a handkerchief and pablum S - decongestant pills - from Japan. Rather annoying.

Monday, of course, we were flying back to Japan. So I have pockets full of tissues, take my pills, and semi-doze through the flights. The dry air might even be helpful? But with eyes tearing at light and nose fluidly dripping whenever the urge strikes, this is not terribly much fun.

Tuesday we arrived back in Japan, took the bus back to the school, and lazed for the afternoon. I know I fell asleep once at about 3 or 4, then sort of got up in the evening. Collapsed back to bed at something like 10 pm, slept through until 7 this morning - and am in the office, but eyes run whenever I try to read, and my nose is not too much better.

Irritating. And I know I get snappish when I feel like this.

3 to 4 days - maybe I really should have skipped that whole dessert?

At least the tissues are much softer here in Japan. And despite my impression that I have one eye enlarged and running like a fried egg across my face, the feeling that my whole face is puffy, especially across the upper cheeks and around the eyes where the sinuses are, and that my nose is probably like poor Pinocchio's about now, extended and swollen red from blowing it, looking in a mirror shows a surprisingly unchanged visage, except for a bit of blinking and squinting.

Gotta blow. Later.
