Now is that reasonable?
Jun. 13th, 2010 09:18 pmOne of the news people, following up on various reports here in Japan about safety in South Africa, noted that Japan is ranked #3 worldwide in terms of safety. And being a curious sort, asked the ranking agency just what kept Japan from being higher in the rankings.
The answer? According to this report, Japan is too close to North Korea, and that is felt to pose a risk.
Incidentally, #2 is Iceland -- well out of the way from unruly neighbors. And #1? New Zealand. Which is almost isolated, actually.
It's interesting that this ranking includes not only the obvious local crime and such, but also the national neighbors.
