Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you're in a heterosexual marriage/relationship (or if you think you might be someday), and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

26 years and some odd days happily married, and I can't imagine how gay marriage could hurt. Are you afraid of the competition? How long have you had these delusions? What, you're afraid your sister might marry one? That's her choice, not yours . . . and you can't use the rest of society as your personal bully. The best society empowers minorities, and curbs the excesses of majorities. Truth in labeling: Freedom means the right to choose.

Kind of fun (that means I scored well, doesn't it?). Anyway, you can try it at http://www.helloquizzy.com/tests/the-commonly-confused-words-test

I'm not convinced that 40 questions doth a genius make, but it was fun. And spotting my error in the Expert answers interesting. I'm not sure that I agree that farther is for physical measures, while further is for metaphorical usage, but . . .

From the LJs . . .  Apparently I are an existentialist, with a bit of hedonism and utilitarianism. Equivocal on the justice and fairness end, and rather down on strong egoism, kantianism, divine command, apathy, and nihilism. Interesting.

Hum.

On my writing list, I proposed that we might announce on our LJs, blogs, or whatever the various places that we participate.
My Lists )
Those are the major ones, I think. At least the daily ones. So what are yours?

Hum. Nancy Fulda, over at http://nancyfulda.livejournal.com/194236.html has a list of helpful resources specifically for new writers. And I thought perhaps I would (a) extract the format and (b) put up a list of my own. So, format first (feel free to copy this to your own blog and fill it in):

Resources for New Writers
Books on Writing
Discussion Forums on Writing, Publishing, Etc.
Online Critique Groups
Real Life Writing Workshops
Where to Find Good Fiction
Market Listings

And some of my choices are . . .
tucked away for now . . . )

Sigh. I have been taken to a tarot deck and shown my card. It is:

You are The Hermit

Prudence, Caution, Deliberation.

The Hermit points to all things hidden, such as knowledge and inspiration, hidden enemies. The illumination is from within, and retirement from participation in current events.

The Hermit is a card of introspection, analysis and, well, virginity. You do not desire to socialize; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude. You prefer to take the time to think, organize, ruminate, take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent but these feelings eventually lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity.

The Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing.

What Tarot Card are You?

Let your little light shine?
