Celebrate Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Day!

By virtue of the authority vested in me by being a reader of science fiction and fantasy, I hereby join in Sharon Lee (and others) declaration of June 23 as Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Day!

Let the celebration begin!

Now, what can you do to celebrate?

1. Write to one (or more) of your favorite authors. Get on their blog and thank them! Get on their communities and say hi! For example, Mad Genius Club at http://madgeniusclub.blogspot.com/ or Science Fiction and Fantasy Novelists at http://www.sfnovelists.com/ Dig out their website and send them email.
2. Tell your friends, communities, and others about today! Let them know that we support Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers.
   
3. Hit the bookstores and book suppliers. Let Amazon know that you like science fiction and fantasy! Buy a book for the cause!
4. Read! This is obviously the preferred activity for many of us, but what the heck, pick up a book and enjoy it! Even in public.
5. Remind your local library that you like science fiction and fantasy. Shouldn't they get a little bit more?
6. Create your own celebration. Just remember -- it's Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Day!

No bits were damaged in the production of this posting, although some did change their charges. And a pile of exclamation marks were used.

Go, celebrate today, recognizing that every day Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers are at work somewhere just for you. So let's give them a day to remember!
