The other day we had a teleconference -- four offices connected by video over the Internet. I noticed that the video was actually relatively slow, so that you lifted a hand and wait a minute now the picture on the screen lists its hand. Then I realized that almost everyone was holding still, not trying to look at the video. I began to wonder if the delay in the video was pushing us to immobility and reduced eye contact. Amusing effect.
