mbarkeraka breaking the deadlock
Today's show started with Yukie (the sister) outside the house, running in the street and into the house. She ran upstairs, saying, "I hate him." Genbee followed, announcing, "She's out of school." And we saw Yukie in her room throwing her notebooks.
Cut to theme.
Next we saw the family, without Yukie, eating in silence. Followed by Fumie (the girl who will be the wife) carrying a tray of food outside Yukie's room. But she stopped and listened to Miyako (the mother) and Yukie arguing.
Next we see Genbee working with his bees, with his net hat and arm covers. Fumie tried to talk to him, and he told her to go away. Fumie looks in on Miyako, but she's working. And Toshi (the grandmother) was taking care of the baby.
Oho! It's night, and Fumie was sleeping when Yukie opened the door and woke her up, telling her to be quiet. In Yukie's room, she explained that she is going somewhere, but will come back soon. BUT would Fumie stay in her bed so that Genbee doesn't know she's gone, in case he checks? We don't want him to worry, do we?
Next we saw Fumie under the covers. Genbee looked in, and started to shut the door, then came back and talked to Yukie (he thinks). He explained that he's trying to arrange things for her. Finally he pulled the covers off, and discovered... "Fumie? Where's Yukie?"
Fumie, Genbee, Toshi, and Miyako at the table. Genbee was obviously angry. Fumie was trying to tell them that Yukie said she would be back soon. Genbee got up and stormed out, with Miyako following. Fumie looked at Toshi (grandmother) and said, "She will be back, won't she?"
Voiceover told us that she didn't come back. We see the abbreviated family eating. Fumie looked into Yukie's clean, empty room.
Next, Fumie was outside sweeping when a boy in a uniform comes up. Is this the Iida family house? Yes. Oh, you're the boy with the eggs. He introduced himself. Fumie said Oh, you must be Yukie's arranged marriage. He said, Ah, you're Yukie's sister. He started to go in, and she blocked the doorway.
They were sitting in the shrine, with the rain pouring outside. Fumie explained that Yukie is gone, and asked him to cancel the marriage arrangements.
As we see a man walk out of the house, the voiceover explained that they suddenly broke off the marriage arrangements. Then we saw Genbee sitting reading the newspaper, drinking tea, silently stewing (and he was a good enough actor that I felt his anger). Miyako and Toshi were cleaning up in the kitchen, talking about how strange it was that they had broken off the marriage arrangements. Genbee snapped at them to be quiet.
Fumie tells Yukie's empty room that "you can come back now." But the voiceover said, "She didn't come back."
And that was the end of today's episode.
