I guess I'm missing something. Clone labeling? What is the point? I saw this at http://edition.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/12/28/cloned.food.ap/index.html but then it has also been on the news this evening here in Japan. Along with a sound clip of someone suggesting that if the FDA doesn't require clone labels, they are threatening our health!

Huh?

I've been eating clones for years. Bananas, seedless grapes, and various others. Almost all apples come from grafts - if I remember correctly, the roots of one variety are strong, while the stem and fruits of a different variety are strong and tasty? And as the CNN article points out, artificial insemination is a relatively common practice for farm animals. For that matter, we've been doing genetic engineering for quite some time on farm vegetables and animals -- selective breeding rather than gene level tinkering, but it has the same effects?

Actually I suspect they're worried about propagating the jokes. You know, beware of dirty clone falling?

Much todo about nothing?
