I think it is the wild boar, but I suppose we can ponder the implications of the bore, if we like.

The Japanese weekend shows are already starting the run-up to the new year. One had a fellow who apparently writes about breaking trends for one of the magazines making his predictions for next year. He expects to see diets, food supplements, and such targeted at blood types! So for example we'll have vitamin supplement drinks labeled with blood types? He also expects more pinpoint foods? He explained that some people crave . . . sweet potatoes, for example. And a restaurant might provide a lunch that features all sweet potato dishes.

His last prediction probably will not surprise anyone from America. Apparently the first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop in Japan opened on December 15 and has been selling solidly ever since. He expects it to be copied widely, both as Krispy Kreme doughnut shops and as a place where you can see the process of making something that you eat. He pointed out that part of the Krispy Kreme experience is being able to see the machine making the doughnuts, and that other Japanese food stores could copy that. Interesting notion, although I still think this prediction was mostly a good way for them to advertise Krispy Kreme on the show.

And sure enough, they had doughnuts for everyone to try, and the entire talk panel enjoyed them very much.

And the wiley boar grins as he sweeps into the now!
