a.k.a. What if I don't want to?

Kitamura, the former Shonen Land assistant, now a lead editor, looked around at Sugai, Aikawa, Mitsuo, Fumie, and Shigeru. He smiled. "Well, I wasn't going to ask everyone, but I guess... my big favor is, I'd really like to have Kitaro in the weekly magazines, too." Shigeru said, "What about the monthly?" Kitamura smiled. "Both! We'd like Kitaro in the monthly AND weekly magazines. What do you think?"
( sunset )
He stood up and started walking into the dark workroom. "Mitsuo? Where are you?"

Fumie said, "I guess we're going to have a party."

a.k.a. guess who's coming

One morning, Sachiko, Shigeru's brother's wife who was doing accounting for Mizuki Productions, sat with Shigeru and Fumie in the kitchen. Sachiko grumbled, "I hate to say it, but Sugai..." Fumie said, "What happened now?" Sachiko said, "This morning, he dumped a cup of coffee over a page. And the other day? He put a finished package of manga in the trash! If the publisher's assistant hadn't found it, we would have lost a whole job! I mean, is his drawing worth it?" Shigeru said, "Well..."
( You can't fire me... I'll leave! )
This episode ended with bits from the next week, including various people reacting to Devil Boy, a group of people watching the television, and several different groups clapping. The final scene was Fumie on the floor in the kitchen, with Izumi asking her what was wrong...

a.k.a. more company

In the kitchen, the man from the temple, with his long hair and beard, carefully drew in background on a manga. Kurata, the man from Osaka, sat on the other side of the table and added fine lines to another page. Between them, Sugai, the young man who had pushed his way in, looked at them working and said, "Wow. This is the first time I've seen people really working on manga." Then he looked at Shigeru in his workroom and said, "Sensei? What can I do?" Shigeru looked at him and squinted.
( and then there were six... or seven? )
Shigeru walked into the bathroom. Fumie was washing her face. Shigeru asked, "Are you okay?" Fumie said, "Maybe tomorrow I'll go to the hospital." Shigeru said, "The hospital? Are you feeling that sick?" Fumie said, "I think... maybe I'm pregnant." Shigeru said, "A baby?"

a.k.a. growing by leaps and bounds

Funayama, the TV producer, asked, "Do you think we should do a movie or television?" Shigeru said, "I think television is better."

Fumie said goodbye to Toyokawa and Funayama in the street in front of the house. As they walked away, she shook her head. "Kitaro on television? Am I dreaming?" As she walked back into the house, she looked at the cherry tree nearby, with its blossoms gently falling.

Sugai walked in from the entryway. He looked at the two men working on manga at the table, and smiled. He pulled a pencase from his pocket, and called to Shigeru. "Sensei? I'll just help you here then, OK?" Shigeru glanced up. "Are you still here?" Sugai picked up a sheet and started to work on it.
