New Year's cleaning
Jan. 8th, 2007 10:41 amI was just thinking about the New Year's cleaning in Japan, and thought I would mention it here. Almost everywhere, offices and homes included, people take a few days before New Year's and clean up. Go through the piles of papers, accumulated magazines, and so forth and toss the old stuff. Dust, vacuum, and so on. This leads nicely into the preparation for New Year's visits, but I think it's rooted in the old turn of the seasons. Not sure, but I find it useful, too.
Not quite the same as spring cleaning, but kind of the same feeling of clearing the decks and getting ready for a new year.
And here we are, in the year of the wild boar.
