Nosewaxing?

mbarkerEek. I thought the other kind of waxing was bad.
Recently here in Japan, one of the TV shows thought we needed to know about what apparently is a new variety of self-torture for beauty. I gathered from what they were saying that this is good for boys and girls. Yes, you too can have your nose waxed.
The operator troweled on what looked to me like very thick honey ... okay, it was a little wooden paddle, not a trowel, but the same effect. I guess it was actually wax, which makes me think of the old hotwax process for making pasteups at the weekly newspaper I worked for years ago.
Anyway, cover the nose, and out to both sides. Let cool. Then . . . rip!
She actually showed the people who got this treatment all the dead skin, hairs, and so forth that were removed. Personally, I think I wouldn't want to know. And the guy looked in the mirror and said something about his nose never being that clean before. It was definitely a different color -- paler, maybe a little redder?
Ouch. That was about all I could think. Ouch -- and people pay for this.
