When Fumie peeked through the barely open door, she saw Genbee, her father, standing there like a guard at the door. Fumie and her sister said, "Father!" He called them into the kitchen and held court.

Michiko smiled. "I'll get people. You'll have lots of people." Shigeru sat up and rubbed his forehead.
