Ge-ge-ge no nyobou 4/3
Apr. 3rd, 2010 10:54 amaka we all rely on you...
I got straightened out today -- the boy in uniform, despite sketching, glasses, etc. is NOT the future artist and husband. Instead, he's Yukie (the second sister) arranged wedding.
Genbee (father) and Miyako (mother) were working with the bees. Mother got stung, and started to walk away, when she collapsed. Father dragged her into the house, yelling for help. He sent Fumie off to get the doctor. The doctor's assistant said he's gone to a nearby village. Fumie ran...thinking that mother is going to die!
And the theme.
Fumie was running through the woods, and fell. She got up, and ran into the village. "Where's the doctor? My mother..." The boy in uniform came up -- and next we saw him carrying the old doctor on his back, running.
The doctor diagnosed shock from the sting, and prescribed rest.
Toshi (grandmother) thanked the boy. He said no, it was because Fumie ran that they got the doctor here in time.
And Yukie walked in the door. She explained that the aunt had found her and told her that the wedding arrangements were off, which was a relief (whoops, the boy was standing there...) He started to leave, and Fumie started to say something, and he just shook his head and smiled at her as he left.
Yukie asked who that was. Toshi said that was Yokoyama-san (the boy who was going to marry you!). Yukie and the aunt started asking what he was doing there, don't tell me that they are trying to set up the wedding again? Fumie told them that it isn't like that, that she had told him to break off the wedding and he did, and then he helped with the doctor, and...
Then Fumie ran out and stopped the boy. She apologized. Yukie came up and simply bowed to him.
Father was putting a damp cloth on mother's forehead. Yukie came up outside the room, and said, "'I'm back." There's a little conversation about taking care of mother, and Genbee said, "I'm watching, it's okay." Then Yukie apologized to him, and he said it's okay, but try not to be so selfish, okay? He's being very gentle...
Miyako (mother) woke up. She looked at Genbee, and asked him if he had been singing, then said it must have been a dream. Then she talked about when she met him...
Yukie and Fumie brought food, and are outside peeking through the door. Genbee was singing with mother...
Yukie thanked Fumie for helping everyone.
And a shot of the garden, then we saw Father getting dressed in a uniform. He told Mother that with the war, no one should wear a kimono, even if it is a wedding. Only the bride...
Fumie went into Yukie's room, where she was sitting in her bridal outfit (Japanese traditional style, very fancy kimono, hairdo, etc.) Yukie gave Fumie her sewing kit, including the Morocco paper. She said she doesn't need it now, although she would still like to meet Gary Cooper.
They went outside, where the villagers were waiting to see the bridal procession. Yukie told Fumie that now she should take care of the house. Then Genbee said he will rely on Fumie. She protested, saying that she doesn't know why everyone is going to rely on her. Toshi told her that they all rely on her because she has power. You can't see it, but it's there.
Then they filled the last minute of the show with a medley of bits from next week. It looked to me as if we're going to jump ahead to Fumie's wedding arrangements, at last.
