Ask for a yukata instead of a kimono
Aug. 2nd, 2007 11:06 pmSomething for the WorldCon visitors to consider - the summer yukata is usually a cotton light-weight outfit, worn during August and September when we're running around to matsuri (festivals), and usually much, much cheaper than a kimono. Also easier to put on - you really need an expert to help you put a kimono on right. So if you are looking for something to take home and wear, consider a yukata. Depending on where you stay, you may even have tried one on as evening wear in the hotel - although taking that one home will usually cost you a bit more than you might expect.
